Summary: Boniface Schroll, an 11-year-old orphan, is sent to
live with his uncle, the mayor of a small German town in the mid-19th century.
On his way there he is abandoned in the middle of the forest at night, and
rescued by Robber Knapp, widely believed to be responsible for a series of
holdups. Boniface faces moral decisions along the way…
In the classroom: The Robber and Me would be for a higher
grade level than I would be teaching but I think it would greatly capture the
attention of a sixth or seventh grade classroom. The book shows the challenges
that this eleven year old faces and will keep the reader’s interest!
